Wallpaper: Steer Wrestling

For folks looking for the next wallpaper – this one is for the PC and laptop crowd.

I also chose this one – as it’s one of the images currently featured over at Eat Art.

(Here’s my previous post on Eat Art.)

This particular steer wrestling photo was taken over at the Philomath Frolic & Rodeo.

Available in four sizes:  1920×1080, 1366×768, 1600×900, and 1600×1200.

Wallpapers are Back!

Yep – after a bit more than a year away – we’re bringing back wallpapers!

But I thought I’d mix it up a bit…   🙂

Three big changes:

  1. I’m dropping the monthly calendar on each wallpaper.  Hopefully – this will make it a bit more “timeless” – and easier to download images for use whenever you’d like to add them to your screen.
  2. Tablet sizes!  Some images simply work in that square format – some don’t.  That means sometimes I’ll introduce images for laptops and PC’s – and other times only a tablet image will be posted.
  3. Images may not always land right at the first of the month.  But – if you’re a fan on Facebook or are subscribed to receive blog updates via email – you can be among the first to know when new images are posted.

hot air balloon mobile wallpaperSo – to get things started (again) – here’s a backdrop for all of you tablet-toting folks.  This particular hot air balloon photo is still one of my favorite aerostat images.

And, as always, all feedback welcome.  Enjoy!

Wallpaper: November 2010

First, I’d like to thank all of you who took the time to pass along my previous post – 7 Not-so-Obvious “Necessities” in my Camera Bag.  It was the most Tweeted (and re-Tweeted) post to date on Camera 47.  It was a great surprise – and I just wanted to let you folks know that I really appreciated it.

november 2010 - low resAnd, as November starts on Monday, here’s the latest monthly wallpaper.  This one is from the Monterey Bay Aquarium trip in June.

Available in four sizes: 1920×1080, 1366×768, 1600×900, and 1600×1200.

And – as always – all feedback welcome.  Enjoy!

Wallpaper: September 2010

September already?

Well – regardless of my shock – here’s the new wallpaper.  This photo is from the Friday morning hot air balloon launch at the annual Northwest Art & Air Festival – held just last weekend in Albany, Oregon.

Now I could try and talk up “vision” and “skill” in getting this image – but in reality – there’s no secret sauce here – I was just experimenting.  Flat on the ground, looking up, wide angle, handheld, and underexposed the scene by a stop or two (or something like that).

Hope you enjoy it.  And, as always, all feedback welcome.

Available for download in four sizes: 1920×1080, 1366×768, 1600×900, and 1600×1200.

Wallpaper: August 2010

OK – I wrestled with this one for a while.

I had another wallpaper all ready to go – just needed to hit the “publish” button.  But I had this gut feeling  it was just steering in the wrong direction.  So, I decided to quit horsing around – and tackled this one instead.

Now available in four downloadable sizes1920×1080, 1366×768, 1600×900, 1600×1200.

And, as always, all feedback welcome.

Wallpaper: July 2010

OK – July’s wallpaper is something a bit different.

This is from one of the jellyfish tanks at Monterey Bay Aquarium – a spectacular exhibit.

It’s available for download in four sizes:  1920×1080, 1366×768, 1600×900, 1600×1200.

On a side (technical) note – on my first attempt at this wallpaper – the image was purple as my monitor’s background (but blue when I was editing the image).  Purple!  Which prompted me to mumble “I can’t ship purple water….”.  As it turns out – color space is important.  Typically – my workflow is in Adobe RGB.  Well – as it turns out – monitors are typically in sRGB.  A quick color space change – and now we have blue water.

Wallpaper: June 2010

june 2010 - low res Funny thing about months – they’re pretty consistent – every 30 days or so there’s a new one.  But for some reason – I’m mostly caught off guard.  Heck if I know why – it’s just one of those things.

Nonetheless – you didn’t come here to listen to me prattle on about tripping into each month.  So – here it is – the June 2010 wallpaper.

It’s another rodeo shot.  I guess that puts me in a two month rut – but I know rodeo season is just around the corner (and I guess for some – it’s already arrived).

This bareback shot  is from last year’s Benton County Rodeo.  More images from this shoot can be found here.

Four sizes available for download: 1920×1080, 1600×1200, 1600×900, and 1366×768.

Update 9 June 2010: Thanks to “Mr. BT from Germany” for pointing out that my original June wallpaper had 31 days.  I’d like to blame it on all sorts of things – like coffee or dim lighting or that printer ran out of ink – but in reality – it was just my oversight.  Sorry about that.

Hopefully everything’s updated now.

Wallpaper: May 2010

OK – my apologies to folks who came looking for an April wallpaper and didn’t find one – it just didn’t come together.  But we’re back with one for May – and though I’m not persuaded this makes up for a skipped month – I hope you enjoy it nonetheless.

This steer wrestling photo is from the rodeo archives – and was shot at the Philomath Frolic & Rodeo – held on the second full weekend of July each year.

Four sizes are available for download: 1920×1080, 1366×768, 1600×900, and 1600×1200.

Wallpaper: March 2010

Here it is – quite late – the March 2010 wallpaper.

This particular image is from a Svens gig – and was shot with a 50mm f/1.8 (a.k.a. the “nifty fifty”).  You can check out more images here and here.

(thanks, Carlos, for reminding me that I hadn’t yet posted this month’s calendar)

Four sizes are available for download: 1920×1080, 1600×1200, 1600×900, and 1366×768.

Wallpaper: February 2010

OK – here it is – the February 2010 wallpaper.

About this image?  Well – I was actually trying to find another angle to shoot the Sagrada Familia in Barclona – when I found these petanque courts in a little park.  And these folks didn’t seem to mind me snapping a few pics of their afternoon game.

Petanque – from what I’ve dug up – appears to be similar to bocce or boules.

And just for fun – I was playing with a modified technique for a faux tilt shift effect a couple of weeks ago.

Like it?  Don’t like it?  Let me know what you think.

Four sizes are available for download: 1920×1080, 1600×1200, 1600×900, and 1366×768.
